| The
Translations Unit utilizes interpreting equipment when providing
interpretation services. Please note, not all meetings require
the equipment the
Interpretation Assignment Desk will determine whether or not your meeting
will require the use of such equipment.
For smaller meetings (of approximately 10 or less participants), the interpreter
may use radio portable headsets in order for the attendees to receive
simultaneous interpretation. For larger meetings, the interpreter will
be accompanied by one of our Interpreting Equipment Technicians.
Our technicians are equipped with infrared equipment and headphones
with volume control that can be adjusted to accommodate the users
volume needs. The interpreter will use a wireless microphone
in order to provide the simultaneous interpretation. This infrared
equipment is only designed to work indoors.
RETURNING LOST HEADSETS
Despite our best efforts to collect headsets after a meeting has
ended, occasionally they are lost or not returned. Sometimes
they are turned in to a District employee at a later date.
If you find yourself with a headset belonging to the Translations Unit,
please return it through school mail to:
