The Translations Unit utilizes interpreting equipment when providing interpretation services. Please note, not all meetings require the equipment – the Interpretation Assignment Desk will determine whether or not your meeting will require the use of such equipment.
For smaller meetings (of approximately 10 or less participants), the interpreter may use radio portable headsets in order for the attendees to receive simultaneous interpretation. For larger meetings, the interpreter will be accompanied by one of our Interpreting Equipment Technicians.


Our technicians are equipped with infrared equipment and headphones with volume control that can be adjusted to accommodate the user’s volume needs. The interpreter will use a wireless microphone in order to provide the simultaneous interpretation. This infrared equipment is only designed to work indoors.


RETURNING LOST HEADSETS


Despite our best efforts to collect headsets after a meeting has ended, occasionally they are lost or not returned. Sometimes they are turned in to a District employee at a later date.
